Autumn Adventures: Nova Scotia Lobster Tales

We arrived in Nova Scotia surrounded by fog. We immediately got on a bus to head toward Peggy's Cove, about an hour's drive from the cruise port.

When we reached Peggy's Cove, the lighthouse was completely covered in fog. Almost everything was covered in fog, which made for mysterious-looking photos. We walked around and went to every shop. It was all so charming.

After exploring, it was time for our lobster lunch. We all filed into the restaurant there. This was probably naive of me but I don't think I was expecting a fully intact lobster on my plate, and that's what I got. I've never worked so hard for food that wasn't amazing. I'm not a big lobster person, it's not that I don't like it, I think it's a little overrated. So, taking a lobster apart to eat was a whole experience.

Once we finished eating, we went outside and the fog had cleared. It was a miracle. I ran around the town, quickly taking more photos before going back on the bus to head back to the cruise ship. These photos were some of my favorites for the whole trip.

When we arrived back at the cruise terminal, my mom and I went on the hunt for another Tim Hortons that was just up the dock. It was a further walk than intended, and they didn't have the ghost mug either.

On our way back, we stopped to get a BeaverTail. A BeaverTail is a popular Canadian dessert that consists of a stretched-out piece of dough that is fried and topped with different things like cinnamon sugar or maple syrup. We continued walking along the dock area, snacking on our sweet treat, and then we stopped at a liquor store to pick up some ice wine. Ice wine is a dessert wine made from grapes that are naturally frozen on the vine. Canada, especially Ontario, is one of the world’s top producers of ice wine. The production of ice wine is becoming more difficult due to the winters becoming milder and milder. For that reason, it was a must for us to pick up a bottle.

After that, we made our way back to the ship. Next on the agenda was to head back to New York City to disembark from the cruise and then start our mini road trip.
